about

An emotionally charged, thought-provoking and ultimately uplifting song by Younger Zen depicting the lives of Trinidadian migrants leaving England, the ‘mother country’ after decades to resettle in their country of origin, where they find themselves disorientated and alienated by the ‘new’ surroundings. Musically, Cristo Redentor is an intriguing proposition that draws on the rhythmic fluidity of calypso and the fragmented grooves synonymous with broken beat but is defined by neither one nor the other.
A unique and powerful collaboration, featuring the non-pareil vocals of Cleveland Watkiss (the Jazz Warriors, Jah Shaka, The Who, Bobby McFerrin).
